Country superstar Morgan Wallen was arrested by Nashville police over the weekend. The singer allegedly threw a chair from a bar rooftop on Broadway. Here’s the latest.
According to the officer’s report, they were standing in front of Chiefs Bar on Broadway when a chair came from above and hit the street—landing feet away from the officers. Officers approached security to investigate the incident, with staff of the bar reporting Morgan Wallen was responsible for tossing the chair over from the roof.
Police officers asked to review security footage of the rooftop bar, which showed Wallen lunging to grab the chair and then flinging it off the rooftop. Witnesses of the incident told officers they saw Wallen “pick up the chair, throw it over him, laughing afterward.”
Morgan Wallen was arrested and charged with three counts of reckless endangerment for the two officers who were in the vicinity and one count for being a danger to the public. Wallen was also charged with disorderly conduct and booked into the Nashville Metro jail early Monday morning. The country star was released a few hours later.
Following the incident, Wallen’s attorney Worrick Robinson provided a brief statement about the incident. “At 10:53 pm Sunday evening Morgan Wallen was arrested in downtown Nashville for reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He is cooperating fully with authorities.”
Chiefs is owned by Eric Church and celebrated its opening on April 5. The six-story bar will face competition soon, as Wallen himself has a partnership for his own six-story live music venue dubbed ‘This Bar and Tennessee Kitchen’ in downtown Nashville just two blocks from the Chiefs location.
Eric Church kicked off the grand-opening of his new bar with a 19-date residency at one of the music venues inside. Perhaps Wallen will do the same in 2024 with his bar—but hopefully Church won’t pull a Wallen to commemorate the event.
