Following the release of a leaked video that depicts Diddy’s assault on Cassie Venture in a hotel, Cassie has spoken out. Previously her husband and lawyers made a statement on social media.
CNN obtained the leaked video that shows Diddy running down the hall in a towel after Ventura, who appears to be attempting to leave. As she arrives at the elevator and gathers her bags, Diddy slams the back of her head with a fist and grabs her hoodie, pulling her to the ground. As Ventura lays on the ground motionless, he gathers her purse and other bags before soccer kicking her in the back. As she lays there, Diddy begins dragging her back to their room.
In her lawsuit filed against Diddy in November 2023, Cassie alleges that Diddy paid the InterContinental Hotel $50,000 for the security footage. CNN obtained the footage on May 17. “The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs,” Cassie lawyer Douglas H. Wigdor said at the time of release. “Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”
Now Cassie has broken her silence by posting her own statement to Instagram—urging people to believe victims of domestic violence when they come forward.
“Thank you for all of the love and support from my family, friends, and strangers and those I have yet to meet,” the statement begins. “The outpouring of love has created a place for my younger self to settle and feel safe now, but this is only the beginning.”
“Domestic violence is the issue. It broke me down to someone I never thought I would become. With a lot of hard work, I am better today, but I will always be recovering from my past.”
